這是一本有關泰雅族Gaga的小書。不談深沉的文化理論，本書以一個泰雅族父親為主角，在寫給小孩的家書中，娓娓道出自己拿著攝影機，紀錄一部與泰雅族相關影片拍攝過程當下，自己對所屬文化的反省與心情。 寫給小孩的信，不得不淺白！在信中，從日常生活到 事件發生的點點滴滴，比令的泰雅眼光不只教導兒女泰雅人應有的生活態度，也讓非泰雅人看見文化間的差異，需要更多的同理心與尊重才得以跨越。本書與紀錄片《走過千年》，採取書籍/影片互搭的方式，詳實地交代影片《泰雅千年》的拍攝過程。當然，讀者也可以嘗試將《Yaba的話》/《走過千年》作者對現代部落的生活寫實與《泰雅千年》中所描述的浪漫古泰雅故事，進行一種古今交錯的泰雅文化對照，這種方式應該也會激發出不少閱聽趣味。
